Girls (and baby) weekend

The girls came for our annual A7G college reunion. We had lots of fun and Matty was very excited to meet Dede, Nadine, and Ty for the first time! He's also looking forward to meeting the newest ladies Baby K and Baby D in the fall :-)

Matty to Ty: "You like applesauce? No way! I like applesauce, too!"

Matty wanted to be like the big kids and sit in his own chair at the beach. Looking good!

Matty 1 Peas 0

Matty has done pretty well with all the 1st foods so far. He's made some crazy faces, but usually by the second day he is wolfing down an entire container. Well, he has finally decided to take a stand when it comes to peas. We've tried a few times and each time it gets the same horrible response of spitting it out, gagging, and trying not to swallow it. There will be no more peas served. Matty has won this battle. As you can see, he's pretty happy about it.

What's so funny?

Matty was laughing it up with Brendan at the shore. I'm not sure what they were saying, but I think they were telling each other jokes like, "What is a ghost's favorite muffin? Booberry".

Survey Says....

So, this is how Matty woke up today. I'm not really sure what to do with his hair. It is absolutely out of control! He's got a rogue curl on one side and long hair on the top center, and not much else on the sides--it's madness! Please take a moment to fill out the poll below. :-)

Life of the Party

Matty was a crazy party animal at CJ's graduation party on Sunday. All the excitement just tired him out, so he took a snooze on the lawn. Casey the dog kept coming by to sit with Matty--although I think she was motivated by trying to steal Matty's toys when he wasn't looking :-)

Matty and the Two Bears

Matty loves his new walker - however, the bears have been making some dubious claims. Here, Matty shows the appropriate level of incredulity.

Follicle-ly Challenged

Matty was born with hair. That hair has continued to grow and now, 5 months later, is getting pretty long. The problem is that he hasn't sprouted much new hair. So, his head is growing, but the hair follicles just can't keep up. When the wind catches his hair, the result is a crazy mohawk. Oh dear.

Literally

We spent the 4th of July weekend at the Jersey shore and the weather was phenomenal! Brian was determined to get Matty's feet wet (literally) in the ocean. The air temperature was around 80, but the water temperature was 68 degrees.

Matty feeling tremulous about this thing called the "ocean":

I told Brian that maybe Matty was a little young and he wasn't going to like the cold water. Sure, it felt great after you got over the initial shock of the temperature, but Matty wasn't going to wait around for that. Still, Brian felt it was important to get Matty used to the water:

Well, as I suspected, Matty was not amused. He screamed when his feet hit that frigid salt water and just wanted out of there. Brian persisted, but Matty did not grow accustomed to the water and did not want to be up there.
We brought him back to the blanket and I went to change his diaper, which I was sure was soaked from all the excitement. What I soon found out was that Brian dipping Matty's feet in the ocean (literally) scared the s*** out of him! Poor baby!

After all that, Matty fell asleep sitting up! He couldn't even stay awake on the short walk from the house to the beach! He spent most of the afternoon snoozing under the beach umbrella.

To snooze or Not to snooze...

To snooze, or not to snooze: that is the question.

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous sleepiness

Or to take arms against a sea of troubles

And by snoozing end them? To nap: to sleep;

Lazy days of summer

Matty has really embraced the idea of lazy summer days. He loves to snooze.....
