HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTY!!

Today, Matty turns 2!  Hard to believe he is getting so big!  He has gone from teetering toddler to a  steady, running, talking little boy!   These days, he does not hold back his opinions--whether it's wanting chicken for breakfast or pancakes for dinner.

"In the land of blue ducks, Matty would be king."
Matty is learning a lot, but we are still working on mastering certain skills.  All animals used to say quack (although he's great with animal sounds now!) and everything still is the color blue.  Also, he thinks that every little girl is named Anna. :-)

To see how much he has grown in the past year, I put together a little happy birthday slide show, with my favorite peppy bday song.

More Snow!!

We had another 14 inches of snow fall last night and Matty was outside playing/helping Daddy shovel this morning.  They had a snowball fight...it wasn't always pretty...

Sleepover!

Matty's friend Zoe came for a visit this weekend.  They had lots of fun playing together, except when they had a few disagreements over whose turn it was on the toy laptop. :-)  They also introduced each other to some new foods--Matty tried Zoe's Fruity Flakes and Zoe tried Matty's raisins--both were deemed a yummy snack.  This pics are of Matty and Zoe having fun jumping on the air mattress in the morning:

Kinectimals

Matty at 23 months trying out the new XBox Kinect.   He was getting a big kick out of Kinect.  (Puns--woo!)  His favorite part was playing soccer with the tiger.  He's practicing those kicks--he'll be a pro in no time! :-)

SNOW!!

Matty took a little while to warm up (or cool down?) to the snow, but he and Daddy had some fun!  These pics are from the December storm where we got over 2 feet of snow.  This week we only got about 6-8 inches.  Each time, Matty is having more fun and learning the fine art of snowballs.

2011 Resolutions

Before we make a list of new resolutions, let's check out how Matty did on his 2010 resolutions:
Matty's 2010 New Year Resolutions
1. Learn how to run -- CHECK!  He is extremely fast on his feet these days.
2. Try at least 1 new food a week-- CHECK!  He loves to eat and has no problem trying new foods. He eats everything that we do (except the dreaded eggs).  One of his favorite foods that he tried for the first time in 2010 is tacos!
3. Travel to a new place--hmm, mostly CHECK?  I can't think of any place super exciting that was new to our little traveler this year, but he definitely took some little trips--the Turtleback Zoo, Jersey Shore, etc. and also flew out to the Colorado Rockies, but he also did that in 2009.
4. Get lots of sleep-- CHECK!   He sleeps through the night and still takes one nap a day, so we can't complain about that!
5. Say "Mommy"--CHECK!  Also says Daddy, Pop, Aunt Jenny, Ryan, Brendan, etc.
6. Learn how to swim--not quite, but we'll roll this over for a 2011 resolution :-)

And now, without further ado.......
Matty's 2011 New Year Resolutions!
1.  Be a stupendous big brother to his little sister arriving this spring
2.  Say goodbye to the crib and start sleeping in a big boy bed
3.  Get potty trained!
4.  Learn how to swim
5. Stay positive and enthusiastic about everything (Just yesterday, he was cheering on daddy as we were driving).
6.  Try something new every month
7.  Help Mommy update the blog by standing still for pictures
