Happy 2nd Birthday Brendan!

Brendan got a new tricycle for his birthday and wanted Matty to try it out. Great job sharing!

With all the rain, the tricycle never made it outside, but Brendan was having a blast riding it all around the house.

Dance Dance Matt-evolution

Practicing his dancing so that he can pick up the ladies when he is older. Daddy is trying to give him a few tips. Hmm--not sure if that is the BEST idea. :-)

Matty giggles. And giggles. And giggles. We figured out that he loves to be surprised--the bigger the surprise, the bigger the shock. He was giggling for about 15 minutes straight when I took this video.

Can I Help?

Time to make some dinner! Matty wanted to join in, so he navigated his way to my corner of the kitchen and grabbed a hold of my skirt....and wouldn't let go. I'm assuming he just wanted to hone his culinary skills. Perhaps learn to make a nice Beef Bourguignon? Coq a Vin? Chocolate Mousse? Cheese Souffle?


Alas, we just made burgers topped with sauteed mushrooms and cheddar. I'll have to try out a recipe from the Bon Appetit cookbook tonight :-)

Grabby McGrabberson

Matty has started reaching out to grab anything and everything in his line of sight. It's been an eye-opener for sure!

First, Matty grabbed Daddy's (full) coffee mug and dumped it on the floor. I guess he thought Daddy was caffeinated enough.

Structural Integrity

Matty enjoys playing on his activity mat. However, it seems that the structural integrity of the mat is not as high as needed---he was able to completely take it down while playing.

Who Needs Sleep?

Matty. That's who! There's no missing out on his nap or bedtime--he can fall asleep anywhere! We were at the shore yesterday for a beautiful day. I had Matty down at the ocean and we were enjoying some waves. He was having fun one minute and the next, he was sound asleep!

The Boys of Summer

Who says matching outfits aren't cute?? Matty posing with cousins Ryan and Brendan for a summer beach picture. Of course, they all sat perfectly the whole time and no one accidentally got sand all in Matty's hair or anything like that.... :-)

Phreaking Phillie Phanatic!

When I was a kid, the Phillie Phanatic was one of the best parts of going to a baseball game. I still remember the time I touched the ACTUAL Phanatic, it made my summer.

So naturally, when I spotted the Phanatic during the game on Sunday, I grabbed Matty and sprinted after him. I might have elbowed a few children out of the way. But Matty and I touched the Phanatic, and took a few pictures to prove it. What a lucky little baby!

Six months in, and I'm already living vicarously through my son...

Go Phillies!

Matty attended his first Phillies game on Sunday! A big thanks to Tony and Sara for inviting us! He got a Phillies hat and certificate stating he had attended his first game as we walked in the stadium. The seats were great, but the crowd was a little boisterous for Matty's taste. He preferred sitting inside with the air conditioning. :-)

The Stats

Matty had his six month check up today and did outstanding. He was very brave at the doctors, but it was a rough morning with lots of shots. Here are his current stats:

Weight: 16 lbs 4 oz

Height: 26.25 inches

For those of you keeping track at home, that is a delta of 3 lbs 1 oz and 1.75 inches. His weight is still cruising along the 25% percentile and his height did a crazy jump up to the 50% percentile--way to grow!

Work-a-holic

Matty wanted to try out his typing skills. It's never too early to learn how to use a computer!

Peek a Boo

So, I was just sitting at the kitchen table doing some work. I was creating a new database view and trying to get the coding right to exclude all but one project. I was almost there when I looked up and saw this....
Matty was supposed to be chilling in the pack n play watching Baby Beethoven. But, he just can't stop rolling! :-)

Watch out for the table!

Matty is getting around well in his walker now. He can spin around and go really well backwards and a little bit forwards. Exploring the house, he managed to scoot underneath the kitchen table!
