Carrots, please

So, for the second morning in a row, Matty got up asking for carrots for breakfast.  I think he saw Elmo eating carrots the other day and just figured it would make a good breakfast.  We had some carrots in the fringe, so I cut up some crunchy slices and he was super excited....until he took a bite.  He decided that he wasn't actually a fan of carrots.  Bummer! :-)

Outside Again!

Matty had a blast getting outside again in between the cold weather.  These are some pictures from when he stopped running for all of about 2 minutes. 

Fudgesicles

Matty tried a new dessert after dinner --a Fudgesicle!  Who doesn't love a Fudgesicle...mmm.  He was wary at first, but after the royal taster (Daddy) tried it for him, he decided to give it a shot.  It was given a full Matty approval...

Matty has been doing so well in his new twin bed, but it's a little scary for us to know that he can just get out of bed if he wants to.  Of course, we check on him a bunch of times after he goes to bed. These are some pictures Brian took around 2am.  At first glance, he was really nervous that Matty wasn't where he should be...

Double Fisting

Sometimes it's so hard to decide--water?  milk?  why not both?  Matty enjoys having multiple libations at once...

Treats

Enjoying some treats.  Matty usually doesn't differentiate between sweet and savory foods.  At dinner, we'll finish the main course and give him some fruit or a cookie for dessert.  He'll hold the cookie in one hand, nibbling small bites, as he continues to eat his dinner--bites of chicken, peas, etc.  It never ceases to amaze me!

Super Bowl

Matty got to watch some of the Super Bowl the other weekend and had a great time sitting with Pop.  Notice their facial expressions.  I didn't pose them--just took the pictures! :-)

Bump

Already 28 weeks along with Matty's little sister and getting big!  I guess it's time to start picking and a name for the baby AND a new name to add to the blog.  Here are some belly bump shots...

Mommy's Little Helper

Matty loves to help--he wants to feel included in everything, which is great, but also offers some challenges. Every time he seems me rev up that pink mixer, he grabs a kitchen chair and drags it over to the counter. 

We made some cookies and he was front and center helping to pour the ingredients into the mixer.  Things were going well until the last cup of flour.  He tossed it in and before I could stop him, he had turned the mixer on high....poof!  Flour everywhere!  Oh well--baking is messy. On the bright side, the double chocolate dream cookies were delicious. :-) 

Milestone Alert: Big Boy Bed!

Matty has officially said goodbye to his crib and is sleeping wonderfully in his big boy bed!  It's been 1 week since we made the transition and it's going well.  The biggest issue has been getting him to take a nap in the bed, but today he even did that---woot! :-) 

He seems so big now--sleeping in a big boy bed, sitting at the table on a regular chair (not even a booster seat), and telling us all of his many opinions! 

With his transition to the bed, we also switched him to his new room.  It's a very cool room decorated with an airplane theme--Mommy worked very hard on it!  The nursery is currently under construction and getting a big dose of pink!!

So, Baby Center just sent a link to predict how tall your child will be and I couldn't help but check it out.  According to their fancy calculator....

Birthday Presents

Matty enjoyed opening his presents and trying them out.  He is a huge fan of his new suitcase--every kid needs one :-)

2 Year Old Check Up!

Matty had his 2 year old check up today and is doing great!  Here are his stats:

Height:  35  1/4 inches  (75 %tile) 

Weight:  27  1/2 lbs  (50 %tile)

He has gained 3 1/4 inches and 3 1/2 lbs in the last 6 months.  His pants still continue to fall off since he has no butt or hips. :-)

Everything looked great and he has been hitting all of his milestones like a champ.  Go, Matty, go!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTY!!


Today, Matty turns 2!  Hard to believe he is getting so big!  He has gone from teetering toddler to a  steady, running, talking little boy!   These days, he does not hold back his opinions--whether it's wanting chicken for breakfast or pancakes for dinner.  


"In the land of blue ducks, Matty would be king." 
Matty is learning a lot, but we are still working on mastering certain skills.  All animals used to say quack (although he's great with animal sounds now!) and everything still is the color blue.  Also, he thinks that every little girl is named Anna. :-)

More Snow!!

We had another 14 inches of snow fall last night and Matty was outside playing/helping Daddy shovel this morning.  They had a snowball fight...it wasn't always pretty...

Sleepover!

Matty's friend Zoe came for a visit this weekend.  They had lots of fun playing together, except when they had a few disagreements over whose turn it was on the toy laptop. :-)  They also introduced each other to some new foods--Matty tried Zoe's Fruity Flakes and Zoe tried Matty's raisins--both were deemed a yummy snack.  This pics are of Matty and Zoe having fun jumping on the air mattress in the morning:
